Healthy Toddler Plate

When feeding your toddler, it is important to make sure all meals are balanced to provide a diet that contains everything your little one needs for proper growth and development.

Whilst portion size is important, it is the proportions of the total meal that have the greatest impact on a toddler’s health.

An easy way to plan out your little one’s meal is to section their plate into 3 equal portions;

  • 1/3 of the plate should contain a variety of vegetables, and for an older child, some salad items.
  • 1/3 of the plate is dedicated to some protein such as meat, eggs, chicken, fish and/or legumes.
  • The last 1/3 should contain their carbohydrate or grains such as rice, pasta, cous cous or bread.

Along with the meal plate, you can include a serve of fruit, a small glass of milk or milk alternative, such as Nutritional Toddler Milk  and a cup of water for hydration.

Most little ones love their food from the time they have their first mouthful, at around 6 months; however, many children go through a fussy phase.  If there is concern that your toddler’s diet is not balanced, due to food groups missing from their meals, there are solutions to fill in nutritional gaps.  Farmers Beta A2 Nutritional Toddler Milk is a balanced A2 protein milk-based supplement which has been carefully supplemented with vitamins, minerals, prebiotics and DHA, to provide balanced nutrition to support your little one’s growth and development.

If food fussiness persists, please obtain support from your health practitioner.
